Welcome
At Sunshine Center preschool each family and child has the advantage of working with a interdisciplinary team that includes early childhood educators, special educators, speech, physical and occupational therapists, a registered nurse and a social worker. Because each situation is unique, our team involves the family in the process to meet the changing needs of each child.
Early Childhood Education (Preschool)
The children served at Sunshine Center are ages birth to five. The preschool / daycare program provides a quality education to all of the children and special education is provided to children that have special needs. The program is open from 6:30am until 5:30pm; Monday through Friday.
In our infant rooms and outdoor areas, you will find mirrors and rugs, treasure baskets filled with soft fabric or natural materials, sensory tables, and lots of great books to hold (and chew on!). There are musical instruments; toys for pretend play; safe equipment and outdoor places to safely explore; and open arms to provide young babies with the security and confidence they need to spread their wings.
The preschool / daycare program offers a rich variety of projects and activities that build upon established foundations for learning while focusing on advancing language ability, mathematical reasoning, and scientific thought. Children develop independently and in small groups. Learning centers offer guided experiences that encompass all the skills and understanding necessary for optimum development and academic success. Creative Curriculum, a research based curriculum is used to plan all classroom activities.
Communication is Essential
As parents, you deserve to know everything that happens while your child is in our care. We make great effort to ensure that you are always in the know. We love to tell you about and show you your child’s experiences through daily communications and the photographic displays around the room. To make sure the care we provide is just right for you and your baby, a personal care plan includes a schedule, nutritional guidelines, and any other requirements specific to your child. The plan will reflect your child’s unique characteristics and your own beliefs, values, and culture. Regular phone calls and conferences with our child care specalists are all part of this important partnership.
Nursing Care
A registered nurse is available each day to assist children who have medical needs.
Therapy Services
For children with disabilities or special needs speech, occupational, and physical therapy are provided at Sunshine Center through both home and center-based programs. Licensed therapists set goals for each child and work as a interdisciplinary team.
Community Support
The community plays an important role in the success of Sunshine Center. A volunteer Board of Directors provides guidance and direction. Dedicated community volunteers donate needed services and the generosity of private public donors help meet the needs of our children.
